Dr. Andrea Furlan brings over two decades of expertise in pain management and rehabilitation medicine to help you conquer chronic pain through evidence-based resources and practical tools.

Educational Background & Clinical Excellence

Dr. Furlan graduated in Medicine from the prestigious Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, where she completed her residency in Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). After immigrating to Canada in 1997, she earned her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.

In 2008, she completed her clinical fellowship at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and began her academic career as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She is now a Full Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine, in the Division of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.

Research & Clinical Practice

As a Scientist at the Institute for Work & Health and Senior Scientist at KITE, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network, Dr. Furlan combines cutting-edge research with practical application. She actively treats patients with chronic pain at the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI).

Reaching Millions Through Education

In 2019, Dr. Furlan started a YouTube channel dedicated to helping patients with chronic pain. By June 2021, her channel reached an incredible milestone of 100,000 subscribers. Her goal is ambitious yet achievable: to help 1,000,000 people with chronic pain live to their best ability.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Furlan is a devoted wife and mother of two. She serves as a Sunday School teacher at the Presbyterian Church of Canada and enjoys playing piano, gardening, cooking, and travelling. Her favorite music styles are classical and gospel music.

Dr. Furlan speaks Portuguese and English fluently and is currently learning French, reflecting her commitment to connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.
